New ways to discover art and artists on DeviantArt?
I think DeviantArt provides a lot of avenues for that already. There are Groups; the header, which involves the Watch Feed, Today, and so on; watching other people's favourites/collections...and then, you have the community helping out with that through journal features and so on.
When I was a Community Volunteer searching for the next Daily Deviation, I mostly found them through Groups and through general browsing. I never felt DeviantArt had to do more in that regard...but then, I've always been here for the community, not so much for the art.
Perhaps a more pertinent question is, instead of discovering art and artists, how do we get our own art seen more? It is a two-way street after all.
Having said all that, it would be really interesting if we could widen the exposure of our own discoveries. Instead of approaching it so that we discover art and artists, it could be approached from the other side as someone who would like to share their own discoveries for other people to discover. I know Status updates and the Watch Feed already sort of do that, but then I don't feel that many people keep in touch with the Status updates or the Watch Feed. If it was possible to share our journal features in a different way, explained here, that would be pretty awesome.
I guess, my main suggestion is to build upon existing features, rather than creating new ways, as such.
