This year had us worried! How could we possibly top the awesomeness of 2009's "Be Fella's Valentine Coloring Contest" which garnered over 8,000 amazing entries?!

After brainstorming with resident Contest Mastermind, `betteo, we came up with a new idea where deviants would be able to create and submit their contest entries right on the contest news article. Bam! We hoped this would give us the edge, and once again, the community blew our expectations out of the water. Over 45,000 entries were submitted in just two weeks and we were amazed at the sheer creativity and imagination behind each entry.

Our sincere thanks to all who participated! You really proved that the deviantART community knows how to show the love. Check out the top 100 winning entries below — their creators will soon be exactly four stress balls richer!

Holiday Card Project 2012
It's back!  With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out to patients.
The idea behind the Holiday Card Project is simple: do something nice for others. However, if you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who submits a card will be given a free one-month Premium Membership to deviantA
Comic-Con: Day 3Saturday kicked off Day 3 of Comic-Con, and the crowds poured onto the convention floor to start the weekend in Geek Style.
At noon, deviantART hosted our final panel: How to Supercharge Your deviantART Profile Like the Masters.  Moderated by none other than our fearless ninja, Angelo (aka +spyed), we were honored to have the following superstars share their deviantART experiences with the crowd:

August 7th, 2011 marks deviantART's 11th birthdAy, but in true devious style, we're taking a whole week to celebrate! Our original plans for Deviants Appreciation Day were so huge that there was no possible way to express our love for the community in a mere 24 hours. Instead, we've created Deviants Appreciation Week, and what better time to host a week's worth of community-oriented events than in the days leading up to our birthdAy?

Each day this week, we have something special organized for you to participate in! Check out the schedule of events below to come party with us!

Comic-Con: Day 4On Sunday, the 4th and final day of San Diego Comic-Con, we were able to keep the love flowing to show the artists and art enthusiasts who came by our booth just how much they meant to us.
The last day of Comic-Con is always bittersweet. The air buzzes with positivity, inspiration, and camaraderie, but in the back of your mind, you know it may be another year before you see some of these friends, old and new. Sure, we always have the Internet, but there's something special about meeting in real life that can’t compare to flipping through a portfolio of sketches, laughing out loud with your peers, and supporting artists’ hard work right then and there.
There was rarely a moment when one of our seven kiosks wasn’t occupied by an artist. Young or old, newbie or professional, digital or traditional, the chance to sit down and create art was difficult to pass up with inspiration coming from every direction.

Comic-Con: Day 1San Diego Comic-Con Day 1 is winding down to such wee hours, some sticklers might call it “Technically A Few Moments Into Day 2.” But we live by the belief that new days don’t technically start until after you’ve fallen asleep, and all of the deviantART staff in attendance are still buzzing with energy after such an amazing first day on the convention floor.
For those of you unable to make it to San Diego, allow us to paint a picture for you.

The first thing you see as you walk in the door (provided you walk in at door G) is the radiant deviantART band of hope hanging from the ceiling like a beacon for artists and art lovers to join their devious brethren at the mecca of creativity: Artists’ Alley.

deviantaRT is applying to manage a new Top Level Domain called .art

Top Level Domain (TLD) is the technical name for ".com," ".net," ".org," or ".fr". These TLDs are controlled and issued by a worldwide organization called ICANN, short for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.  When ICANN announced that it would accept applications for new TLDs, deviantART quickly realized that someone would try to nab ".art."    
DeviantART is committed to have the .art TLD in the hands of representatives of the arts; people who know something about the Internet and the way art is presented and enabled by the Internet.  Nobody has more experience with this than the deviantART community that we are all building, participating in, and sharing with each other every day.

Comic-Con: Day 2Comic-Con Day 2 was all about cosplay, fandom, and art, art, art!  
Before we get into the thick of things, we didn’t have a photo of our huge plasma screens hanging from the convention ceiling to share in our Day 1 recap, so we vowed to get that to you today!  The 11 foot wide screens stream amazing works of art from Artists' Alley participants to the whole convention floor!
