Well... I'm not sure if I've ever said that before in a journal, or if you already know about it... but $namenotrequired and I have been on a ''kind of'' relationship for almost two years

), he finally came to visit me last Sunday on his holidays and we met irl for the first time. And he's here right now next to me.

I am so happy I can't explain. Really... He's such a sweet person

My name is Danielle or $Moonbeam13, and I'm the Director of Community Relations here at deviantART. During the course of my day part of what I do involves shaking things up and testing new ideas to keep things fresh in the community.  Most of these ideas stem from community feedback - things the community has related back to my team of volunteers or to me directly.
Such is the case with Daily Deviation descriptions.  First, let's clarify what was tested and what the end result is because there is some confusion.
Originally, I had requested that the volunteers not reuse descriptions sent to them by suggesters.  I know it seems nutty but there was a period of time where I was receiving an unrelenting amount of complaints about us just 'pasting what the suggester said' and so I decided that for a short period I'd let the community see what it looks like when we don't do that. As you can easily guess from the stats on my profile, I don't post very often. I try to, because it's important to use the website I help build. So when last year, for fun, I made these montages I thought it might make people I'm in touch with on dA laugh, or at least smile at the absurdity of them. And some did. When I submitted them, $fourteenthstar and her team saw that they could be controversial and they were discussed during a meeting with her team. Chef Nozawa Retires

My favorite Sushi Chef and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Nozawa are retiring as of yesterday. I was able to deliver this letter to them last night, along with a bottle of champagne. And I was honored to deliver a last toast, and incredibly beyond belief honored to eat the last piece of sushi served by the restaurant. A new restaurant for the sushi chain called "Sugar Fish" (a partnership between Nozawa, and his sun plus another partner) will replace the original Nozawa which has operated from Ventura Blvd in Studio City for the past 25 years. Sugar Fish at this location is scheduled to open in May.

1. You should be able to do better what you ask somebody to do for you.

Lately when I was learning to do yet another random, bizarre thing, she asked me why on earth I was learning to do that when there are people who could do it for me. But whether it's cleaning your toilet, making your own bed, cooking your food, or climbing a mountain - if you're going to ask somebody to do it, you should really know something about it, even if not how to do it better than them. You should be independent. And you'll never be independent if you absolutely need other people to do things for you.

This is a long rant, but I hope those who need to read it will, and those who want to read it understand where I’m coming from, and can help make the world a better place… or at least #Screeners
As most of you know – we have just completed this year’s EPIC MOVIE POSTER contest. Over the last week or so – I have received comments or notes from some deviants, and have read comments left on submissions, concerning the outcomes and winners. Some were reasonable, others were flat out nasty and insulting – not only to myself, the group, the judges and the contest… but to other deviants who competed.

LOVE IS...

Once upon a time, many moons ago, $pachunka asked me, "What is love?"  I'm not sure the kind of answer he was expecting, but he received the following response:

Pretend that you're hungry.  Really, really hungry.  Famished.  You come home after a long day at work and fix yourself the most perfect sandwich ever.  It's the sandwich to end all other sandwiches -- made from the freshest of materials, exactly to your specifications.  Just as you're about to take the first bite, your significant other comes through the door and mentions how good the sandwich looks.  You then give away your sandwich away without a second thought.  This is love.

The holiday season provides an opportunity for people to reflect on, and be thankful for, the good things in our lives -- health, family, friends and success.  But after a conversation with a good friend, I've come to believe that the "reason for the season" is to see the love that's around us all the time.  It's about recognizing the warmth, comfort, and joy brought about by the people and elements in daily life.

Love is the person who holds the elevator
Love is the fleece blanket on a cold winter night
Love is the sound of the crowd cheering after a home-run
Love is the smile that needs no explanation
Love is the call that's always answered

"Merry Christmas" and "happy holidays" are sentiments echoed throughout the month of December.  They're greetings used at holiday parties, phrases said to strangers in passing, and terms etched inside millions of holiday cards.  But when I say them here, please know that my versions of "Merry Christmas" and "happy holidays" are said with sincerity and love.
