I don't know if any of these would be interesting for you but I get most of my news from:

news.bbc.co.uk - Unbiased global and UK news - and some fun stuff too. Apparently hampster prices have tripled in China.

and

guardian.co.uk - National UK paper that focuses on actual news rather than opinion or gossip and it has a great international section.

Sometimes I check AlJazeera.com (yes really) so the propaganda I get is balanced.

I check on a load of music sites too, like KvRaudio.com and dMusic.com.

And when I'm in a more frivolous mood, I love to check on this really well made and thought out site [link] (I kid, I kid )
